Slow Down

I let art take me where it will. Lately I've been in a different mood. I've slowed down photographing people, and have gone back to the inanimate.

I assume it has to do with my new poetry phase. There's so much beauty in the world including, still objects. I was on the couch reading when I looked up and saw this image on my table. The freshly picked basil, a vase of flowers. The empty chair is silent yet its posture is regal in the throes of the everyday. Still.

Like wise the table.
The small wooden table tells a story all its own. Where did it come from? Besides the bed, the only piece of furniture that knows all our secrets.

Oh film how have I missed you!

I've been getting a bit too comfortable with digital cameras so I decided to go back to what made me in the first place.

Digital is too honest. I dislike it, truthfully. Film is dreamy. It tells a story.

Two basic pictures I took on a simple Saturday afternoon while cleaning up, yet there's more to the story. The lighting. The deep colors.

Last year was an amazing one for Antoine LaFramboise. Our wedding division had its best year and we continued to expand the brand in other areas. Unfortunately, it has sometimes cost me time to dedicate to this blog. Nevertheless, it is my goal to do a better job with updates this year.

Our family division is also growing and our latest ad is a nod to that.

Lovely Mornings

Mornings are the most lovely time of the day. Everything's fresh and anew.

My Saturday and Sunday mornings are moments to be still.

After going to the market, we then take the fresh ingredients and make breakfast. On this particular morning, Brigitte whipped up some Orange-Cognac French Toast, with apple slices on the side. We tried a new African-blend coffee and as always, matched with a lovely French wine, New York Times, not too far away.

I'll be posting a simple video soon for this.

We'll stay under the covers a little longer.
Eventually, we'll walk to the market. Fresh blueberries. Local farm eggs, and carrots.
We usually garnish the kitchen table with a flower bouquet picked by local hands.

Pink Lounge Launch Party

Ah, the Summer.

Allow the word to linger for a while in the air. Sensations tease under the surface.

Sunday's are my favorite day. Relaxation. No phone. No internet.
Just good company, a cool wine, white sheets with the windows open.

On this day, we clumsily make our way to the kitchen for a late breakfast.
With Etta James serenading us, Vanity Fair and Vogue in our hands, we barely
exchange words, but rather allow the air to weigh the moment.

Epic Tennis French Open Finals -

With Tennis being the official sport of Antoine LaFramboise, this morning constitutes Christmas for us. The French Open features a wonderful storyline. Nadal on his 'home' court of clay and Roger Federer attempting to make a comeback of sorts.

Is Federer is done? Ranked number 3 in the world after a record setting number 1 streak and father time have led many to believe so. How lovely would it be for him to not only win today, but beat Nadal, on clay, in the French Open something he's never done?

Nadal is chasing Bjorn Borg's record to tie for most French Open championships at 6.

I got up at 7 this morning. Hit a few balls and now I'm back home, cooking a fabulous breakfast sandwich with a glass of rose champagne. It's a lovely morning!

Monday. Monday evening after work should be a primetime gift. The weekend was lovely and maybe you had one additional glass of wine last evening, that has slowed you down, but you made it. You made it through Monday and you want to take off your shoes, relax and watch great television, before you pick up the energy and other commitments of the week. Personally, I can't wait to watch Anthony Bourdain and an episode of House Hunters International. Me and TV rarely meet besides on Mondays.

Beauty and service are our two hallmarks and we will stand by that always. Ms. Taylor was a factor in creating that.

Forgive myself? Really I haven't written a blog post in over a month. No way this is not me. I have been so busy on a shoot for a company and under a tight, tight deadline. The hard part is over and now I can focus on fun again, sort of. But we can delight knowing spring is finally upon us. Really who wants to write, photograph and shoot about good things when snow layers the ground? Hardly anything is of beauty!

I'm back. Two more weddings signed up for the summer which I am so very excited about!

I'm also tackling a short, and I mean short film, starring model Armina Krgo. 5-10 minutes. Very excited.

Fingers crossed. Bring on the sunshine and good wine!

Rarely taught any longer but it is when a gentleman opens a door for a lady. Tilts his hat with an easy smile of acknowledgment. Class is when a lady doesn't have to raise her voice to be heard. Rather her words carry weight to silence any crowd.

Class isn't something you do today, nor is it a lifestyle. Rather it is innately you.

An Easy Day

The sun is shining over top the snow. What do you do on this lovely Saturday? I've been looking forward to her since Monday. I'm going to spend the day leaving the week in its proper place and focus only on now. There is no yesterday or tomorrow.

So for now, I'm about to go to the market to pick up a few items to cook a couple white pizzas with arugula. Fresh mozzarella, goat cheese, garlic cloves and Divina. A few extra items and stir the arugula in freshly squeezed lemon juice and olive oil. This meal absolutely melts in your mouth. A glass of white wine and espresso after to kiss it.

I'll write a bit. Clean up around the house. Watch some of the Australian Open. Draw a few sketches and edit some photography from a shoot (pic sample), while Diana Krall serenades me.

And then, at 11:59pm I'll cut my phone off and talk with you Monday.

Enjoy the day.

Updating the Website

Accordingly I am making a few changes to the website. I want the full encompassment of the Antoine experience to be realized. I stumbled upon this picture while in my library earlier today. A small postcard from Paris. On this evening, taking a second look, I breathed in deeply. While I celebrate the snow on the ground today, its when I have to leave the house that our friend makes me long for the Days of Sun.

This painting takes me to a special place. I wonder who the people are. What does their home look like on the inside? The young lady must have a splendid childhood. A home of wonder, inside and out. A place where she can run in a garden and then trip upon rows and rows of books in her father's study. Don't call her in yet mother. -AF

I love Mr. Ford's air these days. Older. Wiser. Even more handsome and always classy. His stylish SS2011 new collection seems so natural. He's not forcing the designs. I love this private show put on by Mr. Ford. Call in a few friends like Beyonce and Julianne Moore to style your new collection and the clothing simply pops.

I love the shot of Madame Wintour. Fabulous.

I hope I can shoot for him in the near future. The simplicity, yet beauty and the location make it all so very Framboise.

For Lunch?

The Winter Break is over all too soon. Days of leisure and family. I spent Sunday with Brigitte and as always, no phone and no internet. We toasted the rest of the left over champagne from our annual brunch. I am still a light weight but champagne doesn't wear me down which would explain how we went through bottle after fabulous bottle of Segura Viudas. A brut, yet mature line.

Lunch was particularly special as Brigitte continues to refine her kitchen talents. We're eating light these days. Keeping it classy as always. ;) Melted goat cheese on ciabatta bread, topped by sun dried tomatoes, parsley, scallions and drizzled olive oil. Mmmmm. A small salad to accompany our taste. A glass of champagne and the latest Vogue magazine with Natalie Portman ever the madame la belle.

Besides working on a cookbook, Brigitte is preparing to launch her cooking website and her line of baked goods for simple shops around town. The vast majority of food items I photograph are from her kitchen. I cannot wait to let everyone in on my greatest secret.

Welcome Back Antoine!

This past month has been extremely difficult for me and I appreciate all of the well wishes during my illness. I am better now, still having a few issues, but overall, I am making great strides. I'm really looking forward to next year to pick up and expand AF. My apologies for being away for so long.

In the meantime, on this Christmas Eve, I hope you all are well. Tonight Brigitte is cooking a delicious, AF signature meal. Steak Frites with Bleu Cheese-Shallot Butter. It will be divine. Along with our meal, besides wonderful friends coming over, we will be drinking a luscious red wine called The Prisoner. I've had one sip thus far and wow!

Have a Merry Christmas and do everything with class and style.

Another movie in which I cannot wait to see and the fact that it opens on 1 December is already beginning to hurt me. It can't come soon enough. I love the poster for this movie and the setting takes me back to my youth in performing arts. I miss those days. The cold discipline and patience in learning a craft. This movie looks so Framboise.

Where Will It Take You?

When I take photographs, this is the question that comes to my mind. I wish for my photos to take you to another place when you view them. Perhaps the shade of a color in a picture will take your imagination to a familiar destination that whispers peace to your weary spirit. Maybe the characters remind you of a an occasion with good friends that makes you smile.

This simple picture and its rich brush relaxes me and brings my thoughts to easy fall days. Perhaps in a foreign land. Italy? I wonder who lives in this place. What do they do? How do they live? Do they walk to the market on clear Saturday mornings? Hold hands on the way back and sip cool glasses of pinot gris, drinking in the season?

The beauty of photographs is that, with its stillness, it is ours to fill in the blanks.

On this lovely day, as Summer kisses Autumn, I put my camera over my shoulder and head out the door. Some days I just wake up and try to find the inspiration for a new shoot.
As I was walking a small drive way grabbed me by the hand and I took my camera out. It's nothing special, but sometimes a kind of sensitivity takes over your senses and you are drawn to record.

It's all very short. But thinking of location ideas and this helped.

It's taken a while to settle on a new photo shoot. I've been all over in my thoughts but now I'm beginning to sketch out the shoot and the good news? It'll be a bit more than just photos. I'll be doing a short 2-3min film to accompany it. The title is 'The Return of the Gentleman.'

There seems to be a lack of good quality men in public eye. I want to harken back to the days when men opened doors for their lady. When they knew how to take a hat off and introduce themselves. A time when men were men. I can only hope I do the theme justice.

I'm scouting locations and my creative team Kivvi (kivvirachelle.com) and Devin (J.Crew/Heyman Talent) are putting together clothing options now.

I love going to fashion websites that have vision. Unfortunately most of them don't. Its probably due to the fact that artist have little time to or vision to focus on business and only on dresses. So when I came across Vera Wang's site, I was more than impressed.

A Few Things

You will have to forgive me. I've been contracted at a new job in which I am not able to post the work just yet, which for an artist is frustrating. Nevertheless, this has taken the greater portion of my days but I have a few side projects in which I am working on and cannot wait to show. Besides new photo shoots, I have begun the process of writing a short screenplay to film. I've got an interesting concept in mind. One that is totally Framboise!

A Good Book

The days seem to fly. Between the chatter at work, the commotion of the day and heaviness of tomorrow, I long for stillness. It's 8:40 pm and the eve lifts her face to view her awakened world. The crickets pronounce their presence. I sit at my desk now and I'm tempted by books I have yet to finish. Forgive me. I draw closer to the window for the remaining moments of light to escape in another world, if only for a couple minutes.
The day is easy.
Find a good book to read tomorrow. Feel the pages and their spirit. How they run along your finger tips.
Tomorrow comes too soon.

Good Food and Wine

I like nothing better than a good meal accompanied by a cool glass of white wine. The summer days belong to the spirit of freedom and a glass of wine, with great friends. The memories of a Napa Valley vacation from earlier this year find their way back to the forefront. The people were so nice.
A west coast tour to see family, conduct a little business, find a beach and explore restaurant after restaurant presented with delectable glasses of wine take me to another world. To visit the different wineries was a wonderful experience. I think we decided that Stags' Leap, ( apostrophe after) was our favorite. A stop in Yountville to visit Bouchon, the restaurant by world famous chef Thomas Keller, only capped off the week.

It's Monday and I'm already looking forward to the weekend. Not Friday or Saturday, but Sunday. Everything is different on Sunday. I believe in energy and that the world has a certain rhythm and on Sunday's the beating drum slows. Before I go to sleep Saturday night I turn off my phone and don't turn it back on until Monday morning when I awake. On Sunday's I don't get on the internet unless I have to look up a movie time or something of the sort, but never to surf.
When I first began this regiment I was worried, but you know what? I'm not missing much. If I can't take one day out of the week to myself, where there is no rushing, no job, no bills or anxiety, then I'm not living.
A few Sunday's back my mother and I made it over to Brigitte's for dinner, which is the lovely meal in the pictures. The evening sun set a wonderful mood , and along with Eliane Elias, a cool glass of La Vieille Ferme, we all helped prepare dinner. A usual Sunday. Relaxing and simple.
On Sunday's no phone, no internet, just an easy day with a nice book, a glass of wine and the sun. Or under the covers with a significant other with a good movie. I feel brand new on Monday's. Try it once. And no peeking at the phone. :) Make Sunday's yours. Make it Framboise.

This week has offered a faint respite. However I remain thankful. Here at AF we keep working on new ideas that will enhance the LaFramboise experience. My time in Paris taught me the importance of presentation and customer service, two properties I always strive for. With every AF Films video production, we take our time not only getting the details down, but also presenting a gift package and hand delivering it to your door.

The weather has indeed been balmy but that hasn't slowed down the work. Plenty on the plate, literally. Tomorrow I will have a review of my time at Jack Fry's to eat. I'll give you a hint: wow!
In the meantime, we're putting the final touches on Joy and Eric Fow's wedding DVD and preparing to package it. The packaging is such an important part of what we do and I am looking forward to seeing it. I'll have pics and then we'll be hand delivering it to them.
I've got wedding pics of Matt and Glynnis' to finish up. I get them back to today and will post a gallery. Plenty to do! Is 24 hours enough!?!?

This week I've taken it slow. One thing at a time. Two photoshoots. An edit of a wedding video and a sit down meeting about the first Antoine signature dress. Did I say slow?

I'm looking forward to the weekend though. I plan on finding a moment or two to read a good book and soak in summer. Its the middle of July already! What happens to time as we get older? I think I have an idea. We let time sit in the drivers seat. I believe you have to have goals and dreams and when you do, time slows down. I've tried the alternative. When you have no dreams, you just sit and wait for the next day. Only anticipating the weekend.

Take the time to feel today. This weekend. Especially as you are with your fathers for Father's Day. One day we'll all be gone. Feel the moment with your family today.

AF Films recently shot a lovely wedding for Joy and Eric Fow. Congrats on a lovely wedding! I really enjoyed this shoot because of the relationship I have with Joy and because the location, location, location.

Some places help tell the story and all I have to do is point and click. I'll have a pic or two up soon, followed by a video trailer. I'm excited!

In the meantime, next week will take me to Key West to shoot another wedding!

Key West Wedding

I'm getting really excited. In a couple of weeks, I'll be in Key West relaxing and enjoying the air. Two dear friends of mine are getting married and I've been bestowed the honor of being the photographer. AF was definitely excited to receive their wedding invitation in the mail. It's lovely. I felt as if we were in a beach already, feeling the coastal air.

Talia is a beautiful young lady. A bit apprehensive at first, she blossomed like a flower before our eyes. I had a wonderful time shooting her and look forward to more.

The evening is easy. The sun pours into my window. I, a receptive ancient.
She will come home soon. We will find a lovely restaurant to be among the people. Our mutual meditation.
Lamb, fresh tomatoes, and asparagus are prepared at our altar. Red wine will nourish our senses.
We will praise.

A lovely Sunday afternoon lunch. Brigitte's amazing food. This was a great lunch. Fresh bread from Blue Dog Cafe. Herbed turkey and gruyere cheese. Salad brushed with homemade balsamic vinaigrette. Lemonade and white wine.- AF
